![]() ![]() Since that time, Comic Book Herald’s readers using tablets for comics have given a ton of feedback after going through the same purchase decision. It’s a tough question, and one I researched extensively for the original incarnation of this guide in 2013. What’s the best device for comic book reading? Do you invest in a sleek 10 inch tablet? What about a mini tablet to save a few dollars? Could you stick to a laptop, desktop or phone? And what about non-Apple or Android options like Kindle or Windows Surface? What’s less clear is what type of tablet or e-reader you should consider for your comics consumption. There’s also no doubt that subscription comics services like Comixology, Shonen Jump (Manga), DC Universe Infinite and Marvel Unlimited have made it easier than ever to read comic books digitally. See the Comixology Amazon FAQ for more information about the upcoming transition. It’s clearer than ever that tablets are the perfect digital comic book reading option. We also recommend you remove the book from your device when you have finished the book. Due to memory limitations, we recommend you only send less than 25 books to your e-Reader device at a time. ![]() If you want to read one on those devices, you can head to your Content and Devices page, select the book, and choose to Deliver the book to your registered Devices. Your comiXology comics, graphic novels and manga won’t appear by default on your (Kindle) E-reader devices. There’s also some interesting information about comics and Kindle ereaders in the FAQ: They say DRM-free downloads will still be available in PDF and CBZ format for eligible purchases made on the old website or app, but unfortunately it looks like the new setup won’t allow for DRM-free downloads moving forward. Note: any books purchased in the new comiXology updated app or through Amazon will not come with DRM-free downloads. One of the negative side effects of this transition is DRM-free downloads will be going away. ![]()
